My testimony

I have been thinking recently about my testimony and how it has grown over the years. I would like to share with you my current testimony and a little about how I gained it.

The first and foremost part of my testimony is that I know that Jesus lives and that He loves us. I know this because I have seen Him. At a time in my life where I needed Him most, I saw Christ appear at my bedside for just a moment and share my sorrows with me.

I also know that the Book of Mormon is a book from God. I have read it over and over and will continue to read it for as long as I shall live. It brings me peace and joy in a world of turmoil and disorganization. I have felt the spirit of God while reading the Book of Mormon and I know the truthfulness of it through those experiences.

Because I know of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, I also know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet. I know that he saw God the Father and Jesus Christ appear to him, and that he was called of God to restore Christ’s original church back to the earth. He could not have started this church without help from God. He could not have written the Book of Mormon on his own and could not have translated it without divine inspiration.

I know that the fruits of this church are good. I have personally seen and experienced the efforts of the church to follow Christ and His example of love and service. No church could do the works that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does and not be run by good men and women. This is the church of God. We are disciples of Christ. Our church is not perfect because all humans are imperfect, but we strive to do what is right in the sight of God.

I would not belong to any other church because I have not seen any other church that can offer even close to the same organization and values that this church offers. There is no other church that can claim the same authority that we have. There is no other church that offers the same ordinances of salvation that our church administers. There is no other church that can trace its origin and organization directly back to Christ.

I feel blessed to be able to be part of this church and to have the opportunities that I have to serve others and help them one day live with God again. I would not be part of this church if I didn’t feel it was the best way for me to follow Christ.

I love Christ and strive to follow Him. I will continue to serve Him for the rest of my life. I know that I am not perfect and that I will never be worthy of entering heaven on my own, but through Christ and His atonement I can one day return to live with Him again. I will continue to try to live worthy of that and I hope that you will too. I want others to know Christ because I want them to experience the joy that I have from knowing Him. When you live for yourself, life isn’t worth much in the end- but when you live for others, life takes on more meaning than you could ever imagine.

I hope that I always live my life for others that others may see the light of Christ in me and hope for a brighter future. I love my fellow men and women and am grateful for the callings I have to serve them. I will continue to serve God and strive to grow closer to Him and endure to the end.

I bear testimony of these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
